100 Best Graphic Novels and Comics - The List

The Top 100 Comics and Graphic Novels Complete List

This website is all about finding the 100 best graphic novels ever written. I had to choose between thousands of graphic novels to compile this list, and it is no small feat choosing one hundred books out of thousands of others that could all be argued as good enough to enter the list.

That why we don't ever try to say that this list is definitive, and that any comic left out isn't great. It is a starting point, a place to begin for the rookie comic book fan who is new to the genre and is looking for something to read. It will also serve existing graphic novel fans well because there's no way you will have already read all the books on this list (feel free to tell me I'm wrong though!).

Below are links to all the comics on the list so far. I recommend you start at #100 and read through the graphic novel reviews, but that's completely up to you. If you want you can just skim the list and then click of a comic you like the look of, or you can just jump in at number 50. Or number 25. It's completely up to you. As long as you find a new graphic novel to read, I'm happy.

I'd also like to know if you think we got it wrong. Maybe you're a fan of superheroes and think I haven't put enough Superman or Batman comics on the list. Maybe your comics of choice are crime thrillers, and you think we've given too much priority to people running around wearing capes. Whatever your graphic novel taste, I'd love to know if you disagree with our choices. It's a difficult thing to make a list of graphic novels and call them the best, so if you think we're talking rubbish then leave a message below.

The main goal of doing this list was to help you find out which graphic novels to buy, whether they be DC, Marvel, Spiderman, Dark Horse or Batman. I include links to online stores that sell the books in question, but I always recommend that you go and support your local comic shop if there is one near you. There are lots of Forbidden Planet stores scattered around the UK and US, but if you do a bit of searching you will also find lots of independent shops, and these guys really need your support. They'll probably have some cool vintage editions on offer too that you might not find any where else.

All comics on this list are available at Amazon or Forbidden Planet in case you want to buy them.. Happy reading graphic novel fans.
